Policy & Actions
Priority 1: Developing a More Dynamic and Creative Business Base
In order to stimulate a diverse and modern economy offering higher value jobs and opportunities across South West Wales the Forum is proposing to promote:
- Development strategies for each of the target sectors identified, using the experience already gained in areas such as tourism. The target sectors are tourism, agri-food production, energy and environmental industries, creative media, high value manufacturing and bio-science. The strategies will develop detailed propositions for support and development in each sector.
- To promote innovation and knowledge generation through a regional innovation initiative, building on the work of the Regional Innovation Partnership. Amongst other things, this will seek to promote Higher Education-business linkages and collaborative working across the Techniums.
- A social economy network will aim to offer entrepreneurial opportunities to those who do not wish to develop private companies, whilst also offering community benefits.
- Other activities in this area include proposals to enhance HE-FE collaboration, developing public procurement initiatives and supporting cluster-based initiatives where appropriate. These and other actions may, of course, all form part of the identified sector development strategies.
